Tomorrow I’m off to visit family in Philadelphia between the 4th and the 10th. With any luck I’ll make it to the Jersey shore so my daughter can see the ocean for the first time. At any rate, during this time my email access will be fairly limited. In the meantime, I’m reading Henry Bond’s Lacan at the Scene, which explores Lacanian theory through crime photography. I’m only three chapters in so far, but I will say that it is extremely lucid and nicely illuminates the Lacanian clinical categories of perversion, psychosis, and neurosis. I will say, however, that this is not a book for the faint of heart. The crime photography is graphic, real, and deeply disturbing.

Recorded bells
aren’t real
bells
real nonetheless
in what they are …
